The AI Eco-Pilot project, launched by Advizeo in collaboration with the Metropolitan Area of Greater Paris and Tilt, has been selected to create a cutting-edge artificial intelligence demonstrator. The primary objective is to enhance energy management in buildings through advanced technologies while addressing contemporary ecological challenges.

A Strategic Initiative for Regional Energy Transition

Chosen as one of the winners in the initiative « Demonstrators of Frugal AI for Ecological Transition, » the AI Eco-Pilot project was unveiled two years ago under the France 2030 plan. This initiative is backed by the Bank of Territories and the General Secretariat for Investment, aiming to promote innovative solutions that support ecological transitions within local communities.

This ambitious project is spearheaded by a consortium comprising Advizeo, a specialist in energy management, the Metropolitan Area of Greater Paris, and Tilt, an expert in artificial intelligence and electrical management. Together, they are developing a sophisticated AI solution known as “AI Eco-Pilot,” designed to automate the monitoring and remote management of buildings. Their goal is to decrease energy consumption and offer energy flexibility. By utilizing AI, the system can swiftly detect anomalies and inconsistencies, providing managers with a powerful tool to comply with the BACS decree and the Tertiary Eco-Energy framework.

A Tangible Impact for Communities

Advizeo and the Metropolitan Area of Greater Paris have been collaborating for two years to monitor the energy usage of approximately 5,000 sites through the platform “savee.” The AI Eco-Pilot project aims to expedite the energy transition by implementing tailored actions and investments for each building’s specific needs. “Local communities play a pivotal role in the ecological and energy transition process. They hold direct responsibility for 15% of greenhouse gas emissions through their prerogatives and assets. We are proud to apply our expertise to such a significant territory,” says Cyril Sailly, president and founder of Advizeo.

This project consists of two distinct AI developments. The first targets over 7,000 buildings across 54 localities to assist Energy Managers in making informed decisions. It aims to help them meet the objectives of the tertiary eco-energy framework by 2030. The AI system recommends adjustments to equipment and outlines energy renovation work tailored to the building type and usage.

The second AI component will be piloted in six communities and approximately twelve buildings. This system will facilitate predictive regulation of HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), taking into account variables such as weather conditions, building characteristics, and usage patterns. This component also integrates electrical flexibility to adjust consumption based on network demand.

Expanding the Use of AI in Energy Management

Since the announcement of the AI Eco-Pilot project’s selection at Vivatech, some municipalities within the Metropolitan Area of Greater Paris will soon benefit from this demonstrator. If the initial tests yield positive outcomes, this innovative solution could be rolled out on a larger scale in the coming years.

Advizeo envisions that this project will enable communities to optimize their energy performance and comply with new regulatory requirements. The AI demonstrator is expected to streamline building management while simultaneously promoting investments in more sustainable infrastructures.

The success of AI Eco-Pilot could serve as a blueprint for other territories, showcasing the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in energy management. This technological advancement has the potential to fundamentally transform community management practices, offering viable solutions to current climate challenges.
