In addition to Mistral AI, France is home to another AI startup known as H. Recently, the company made headlines with the launch of Runner H, its very first artificial intelligence tool designed to automate workflow processes, particularly those tasks that are complex and repetitive.

Runner H is engineered for autonomous operation, possessing the capability to schedule and execute intricate actions that align directly with the user’s defined objectives.

As highlighted by Charles Kantor, the CEO of H, the core philosophy of the company is to liberate individuals from mundane tasks.

This ambition is clear: H aims to empower everyone to refocus on the essential aspects of their work.

A New Gem Enters the Ranks of French AI Giants

Initially launched in May by former talents from Google DeepMind, the startup H has since achieved an impressive funding round of $220 million.

This notable funding round attracted top-tier investors, including prominent French entrepreneurs like Bernard Arnault and Xavier Niel, as well as global giants such as Amazon, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Accel, Samsung, and businessman Yuri Milner.

The public investment bank Bpifrance also contributed to the recent funding efforts organized by H just a few weeks ago.

This may be the most remarkable agent I’ve encountered to date.

Following a $220M funding round, @hcompany_ai has just unveiled an agent capable of executing any task from user prompts.

Their “Runner H” can effectively translate instructions into action with precision comparable to human performance.

Despite Cofounder Exits, H Reinvents Itself and Launches Its First Product!

The journey of the company hasn’t been without bumps. This summer, three of the five cofounders departed from the organization, citing operational disagreements in a statement released on LinkedIn.

Nonetheless, H is forging ahead with determination, rolling out its inaugural product.

Located in Paris, the startup is at the forefront of innovation, developing a new generation of multimodal models aimed at action.

“We strive to provide AI solutions for both businesses and individuals,” Kantor added in the company’s statement.

Developers interested in exploring this technology can already sign up for the waiting list to access the private beta version of Runner H.

Runner H Outperforms GPT-4 with Just 2 Billion Parameters

While AI giants compete on the parameter front with models like GPT-4 boasting 175 billion parameters, Runner H has adopted a radically different approach.

H focuses on a more efficient model, utilizing only 2 billion parameters for its language model and computer vision system.

Charles Kantor advocates for this minimalist approach as a key competitive advantage.

The French startup H is taking the lead in the realm of “agents,” marking the next battleground of AI.

“A more compact model translates to reduced operational costs and optimized efficiency, both of which are crucial in securing and maintaining business contracts,” he asserts.

Initial results appear to support this strategy, with Runner H claiming a 29% performance boost compared to Anthropic’s “Computer Use.”

According to WebVoyager benchmarks, Runner H also surpasses models from Mistral and Meta, suggesting that this performance could potentially disrupt existing paradigms in AI development.

However, the tech community eagerly anticipates the model’s availability to truly assess its capabilities in comparison to GPT and Claude 3.5.
